Video Call Helper: Monitor WebRTC PeerConnection Events and Audio Levels
Video Call Helper is a Chrome add-on developed by Cogint Labs. It is a prototype app designed to monitor WebRTC getUserMedia and RTCPeerConnection API's locally for debugging purposes. This free tool is particularly useful for developers working with web-based video calling services like Jitsi Meet, Google Meet, and more.
Upon installing the Video Call Helper extension, users can access its features by clicking on the "V" icon, which opens a dropdown menu. The left side of the dropdown displays a scrollable element that provides detailed event information related to WebRTC PeerConnection. On the right side, users can view local and remote audio levels.
Although the current version of Video Call Helper presents this information in a text-based format, the developer plans to enhance it with a graphical display in the future. This will further aid developers in debugging and optimizing their video calling applications.
Overall, Video Call Helper is a valuable tool for developers looking to monitor WebRTC PeerConnection events and audio levels during the development and testing of web-based video calling services.
